The clock is ticking on 2025, and at Central Chevrolet, we are making room for the new year in a big way. If you have been waiting for the perfect moment to buy a pre-owned vehicle, that moment is right now.

We have officially launched our December Sales Event, and the headline is simple: We just slashed prices on 35 specific used vehicles on our lot.

Why Buy Used This December?

December is historically one of the smartest times to buy a vehicle. Dealerships are motivated to clear out old inventory to start January fresh. At Central Chevrolet in West Springfield, we are taking that motivation a step further. We aren’t just saying we want to sell cars; we are proving it by marking down over three dozen vehicles to rock-bottom pricing.

What’s Included in the Price Drop?

These 35 vehicles span a variety of makes and models. Whether you are looking for a reliable commuter sedan, a rugged work truck, or a family-friendly SUV, chances are one of these markdowns fits your needs.

  • Certified Pre-Owned Chevrolets: Get the peace of mind of a CPO with a price tag that fits your budget.
  • Budget-Friendly Commuters: Perfect for first-time drivers or saving on gas.
  • SUVs and Trucks: Ready for the New England winter.

Don’t Miss the “End of the Year” Rush

These price adjustments are aggressive, and with only 35 vehicles in this specific clearance group, they will not last long. Once the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, these deals might be history.

Visit Central Chevrolet in West Springfield today. Ask to see the “December Price Drop” inventory and drive home in a new ride for the holidays!

Let’s be honest—winter in the Pioneer Valley is no joke. One minute it’s a picturesque dusting of snow on the Holyoke Range, and the next, you’re navigating a slushy, icy mix on Route 5 or dodging fresh potholes on Memorial Avenue.

At Central Chevrolet, we know that driving in Western Massachusetts during the winter requires more than just scraping off your windshield. It requires a vehicle that is prepped, protected, and ready for whatever the New England forecast throws at us.

To help you stay safe and keep your Chevy running smoothly this season, we’ve put together the ultimate winter car care guide.

1. The Great Tire Debate: Winter vs. All-Season

This is the most common question we get at the service desk: “Do I really need winter tires?”

In West Springfield, where hills are steep and black ice is common, the answer is often yes.

  • All-Season Tires: Great for three seasons, but the rubber compound hardens when temperatures drop below 45°F, reducing traction.
  • Winter Tires: Made with flexible rubber and specialized tread patterns that “bite” into snow and ice. If you commute from hill towns like Westfield or navigate the steep streets of Holyoke, these are a game-changer.

Pro-Tip: If you stick with all-seasons, check your tread depth immediately. You need at least 4/32” of tread, you can check this by sticking a quarter between the tread with Washinton head down, if the tread doesn’t cover his entire head then that’s a sign you need new tires.

2. What’s That Sound? Decoding Winter Noises

Cold weather makes materials contract and fluids thicken, leading to a symphony of strange sounds. Here is what you might hear on a freezing morning in Chicopee:

SoundPotential CauseUrgency
Squealing/Chirpingusually a loose or worn accessory belt (serpentine belt). Cold rubber is brittle and slips easier.Medium: Get it checked before it snaps.
Sluggish/Slow CrankYour battery is struggling. Cold weather reduces battery power by up to 50%.High: Replace it before you’re stranded.
Clunking over bumpsSuspension issues. Struts and shocks work harder in winter, especially on pothole-ridden roads.Medium: Have your suspension inspected.
WhiningThickened power steering fluid or transmission fluid struggling to circulate.Low/Medium: If it goes away after warming up, it’s normal. If not, check fluids.

3. The “Salt Life” (And How to Fight It)

Road salt is a necessary evil in Massachusetts. While it keeps the Mass Pike safe, it wreaks havoc on your vehicle’s undercarriage, brake lines, and body panels.

  • Wash It Regularly: Don’t wait for spring! frequent washes (especially those with an undercarriage spray) are vital to rinse off corrosive salt. If you’re looking for a detail you can call us and schedule with 811 Detailing.
  • Wax On: A good coat of wax acts as a sacrificial layer between your clear coat and the salt.
  • Listen for Grinding: If your brakes sound like they are grinding, it might just be surface rust from salt, but have it checked if the noise persists after a few stops.

4. Visibility: The Key to Safety

Winter days in Western Mass are short and dark. Ensure you can see and be seen.

  • Winter Wiper Blades: Standard wipers can get packed with ice and streak. Switch to “beam” style or winter blades with a rubber boot that prevents ice buildup.
  • Washer Fluid: Do not use summer fluid! It will freeze in the lines. Ensure your reservoir is filled with fluid rated for -20°F or lower.
  • Headlights: Oxidation (cloudy lenses) cuts down light output significantly. If your headlights look yellow, ask our service team about restoration.

5. Your Western Mass Emergency Kit

If you slide off the road in a snowstorm, it might be a while before a tow truck can reach you. Keep these essentials in your trunk:

  • Small Shovel: To dig out tires.
  • Kitty Litter or Sand: For traction on ice.
  • Jumper Cables: Or a portable jump pack.
  • Blanket & Gloves: To keep warm without running the engine constantly.
  • Flashlight: With fresh batteries.

Is Your Car Ready for the Snow?

Don’t wait until the first blizzard hits to realize your battery is dead or your tires are bald. A little prevention now saves a lot of headaches (and tow bills) later.

Would you like me to check our current service schedule to find a time for your Winter Protection Package or tire swap?

🚗 Run of Show

At 11:00 AM, a festive “Caravan of Toys” will commence, led by none other than The Grinch over to Central Chevrolet.

Upon arrival at Central Chevrolet:

  • Three Silverado pickup trucks, staffed by three dedicated “Elves,” will be ready to collect the new, unwrapped toy donations.

Enthusiasts are strongly encouraged to bring their classic, collector, or show cars for the caravan and show portion, though any vehicle is welcome. The event is supported by the Car Club of New England, and other local car clubs are expected to attend as well.

The collected toys will remain in the Central Chevrolet showroom where toys will be continually collected until they are delivered to the Boys & Girls Club of West Springfield on Monday December 8th, 2025.

“This is our FIRST year doing this event and we are very excited to do our part to give back to the community we serve,” said Ed O’Grady, one of the organizers from Central Chevrolet. “We are especially excited and thankful that ESE is providing a safe place for us to organize our Caravan of Toys!”  Special thanks to Dave Virella, president of the Corvette Club of Western Mass, for this amazing idea and help to co-organize this event! We would also like to thank Jamie Dupuis, president of The Car Club of New England, and all the members of both car clubs for graciously coming together to make this event an extraordinary team effort! Finally, we would also like to thank Bill Dinn of Dinn Brothers Trophies in Holyoke for donating trophies for this “Caravan of Toys”.

Here at Central Chevrolet, we know the look. A customer in our West Springfield showroom is eyeing the sleek, all-new Chevy Equinox EV or the sporty Chevy Blazer EV, and then they ask the big question: “But how does it handle a nor’easter?”

It’s time to set the record straight. Not only are these all-electric SUVs built to handle a New England winter, but they also have a few “secret weapons” that many gas-powered SUVs can’t match.

Forget everything you thought you knew about winter driving. Here’s why the Blazer EV and Equinox EV are your new snow-day champions.

Secret Weapon #1: The “Weight” Advantage (It’s All About a Low Center of Gravity)

You asked about traction, and you’re right to think weight plays a role. But with an EV, it’s not just about how much it weighs—it’s about where that weight is.

Both the Equinox EV and Blazer EV are built on Chevy’s revolutionary Ultium Platform. This design places the entire heavy battery pack flat across the floor of the vehicle, like a giant, solid-steel plate.

Why is this a game-changer for snow?

  • Insane Stability: This creates an incredibly low center of gravity. Unlike a traditional gas SUV, which can feel “top-heavy” in a slippery turn, these EVs feel planted and bolted to the road.
  • Superior Traction: All that weight presses the tires firmly onto the pavement, giving you a road-gripping bite that’s hard to replicate. It’s the same principle as throwing sandbags in the back of a pickup truck, but it’s engineered into the very frame of the vehicle for perfect 50/50-ish weight distribution.

When you’re on a snow-covered road on I-91 or navigating an icy hill in town, that low-slung weight is your best friend, fighting body roll and keeping you stable.

Secret Weapon #2: Not Just AWD… eAWD

You’ve driven cars with All-Wheel Drive. Now, get ready for eAWD (Electric All-Wheel Drive).

A mechanical AWD system has to physically send power from the engine through a complex series of driveshafts and differentials to the wheels. There’s a slight delay.

Chevy’s eAWD system, available on both the Blazer EV and Equinox EV, is different. It uses dual motors—one in the front and one in the back.

  • It’s Instant: There is zero lag. The computer can send 100% of available torque to the front, the back, or any combination, in the blink of an eye.
  • It’s Smarter: The system is monitoring for wheel slip hundreds of times per second. Before your tire even has a chance to spin, the eAWD has already redistributed the power to the wheels that have grip.

Pulling away from a stoplight in slush? Climbing your icy driveway? Chevy’s eAWD gives you a level of instant, intelligent traction that mechanical systems simply can’t match.

The Stats That Silence Winter Skeptics

“Okay, it’s stable,” you say, “but what about the range when I’m blasting the heat?”

This is where Chevy’s engineering shines.

  1. Chevy Blazer EV: The eAWD models offer an EPA-estimated 279 miles on a full charge.
  2. Chevy Equinox EV: The eAWD models provide an EPA-estimated 285 miles on a full charge.

Yes, all cars (gas and electric) lose some efficiency in the bitter cold. But let’s put that in perspective for a Western Mass driver. Even if you see a 30% reduction on the coldest day of the year, your Equinox EV eAWD still has nearly 200 miles of real-world range.

When was the last time you drove 200 miles in one day just running errands around West Springfield, Agawam, and Chicopee? You have more than enough range for days of commuting, all before plugging in at night.

Your Winter-Ready Toolkit

The Blazer EV and Equinox EV are also packed with tech designed to make winter easy and maximize that range.

  • Preconditioning: This is the #1 rule of EV winter driving. While your EV is plugged in at home, use the myChevrolet App to schedule your departure. The car will use power from your wall—not the battery—to warm the cabin and, crucially, warm the battery to its happy-operating temperature. You get to step into a toasty warm car with 100% of your available range ready to go.
  • Heated Seats & Wheel: Using the available heated seats and steering wheel is far more energy-efficient than heating the entire cabin to 75 degrees. You stay warm while preserving miles of range.
  • Smart Thermal Management: The Ultium platform actively works to keep its battery warm, using recycled heat from the motors and electronics. You don’t have to do anything—the car is just smart.

The Verdict: Your Perfect Winter SUV is Electric

Don’t let winter anxiety hold you back. The Chevy Blazer EV and Equinox EV are not just “good enough” for a Western Mass winter; they are arguably better built for it than many of their gas counterparts.

The combination of a heavy, low-planted battery, the instant grip of eAWD, and outstanding range figures makes them the ultimate all-season family vehicles.

But don’t take our word for it. Feel the planted, confident grip for yourself. Stop by Central Chevrolet on Memorial Ave in West Springfield and test drive the future of winter driving.’ll show you exactly how these features work and why your next winter car should be an electric one.

You asked, and Chevrolet listened. After a brief hiatus, one of the most popular and affordable electric vehicles in America is making its triumphant return to the Chevrolet lineup. The Bolt is back, and it’s been re-engineered from the ground up to be better than ever.

Here at Central Chevrolet, we know West Springfield and Chicopee drivers loved the Bolt for its practicality, peppy driving, and incredible value. The original Bolt EV and Bolt EUV made electric driving accessible to everyone. Now, get ready for the next generation.

We’ve gathered all the answers to the biggest questions people are searching for online about the new 2027 Chevrolet Bolt.

When is the New Chevy Bolt Coming Out?

This is the number one question on everyone’s mind! The all-new Bolt is slated to return as a 2027 model year vehicle. While that might sound far away, production is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with the first models expected to arrive at dealerships like Central Chevrolet in the first quarter of 2026.

How Much Will the New 2027 Bolt Cost?

The Bolt built its reputation on affordability, and the new model proudly continues that legacy. Chevrolet is targeting a starting MSRP that keeps it one of the most accessible EVs on the market.

  • The 2027 Bolt LT (with Comfort Package) is announced to start at $29,990.
  • An even more affordable base LT trim is planned to follow, with a starting price of $28,995.

This aggressive pricing, combined with potential tax incentives, makes the new Bolt a game-changer for drivers in Western Massachusetts looking to go electric without breaking the bank.

What’s New on the 2027 Bolt? (A Lot!)

This isn’t just a minor refresh; it’s a major leap forward. The new Bolt addresses the biggest requests from current owners while adding next-generation technology.

  • Dramatically Faster Charging: The old Bolt’s biggest drawback is gone. The new 2027 Bolt will feature DC fast charging speeds of up to 150 kW. This means you can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in about 26 minutes—more than 2.5 times faster than the previous model.
  • Native NACS (Tesla) Port: That’s right, the new Bolt will come standard with the NACS charging port, giving you direct, adapter-free access to the vast Tesla Supercharger network in addition to other public DC fast chargers.
  • New LFP Battery: The Bolt will use a modern LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery. This advanced battery chemistry is known for its long-term durability and cost-effectiveness, which is key to the Bolt’s affordable price.
  • Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Capability: The new Bolt is built for the future. With available V2H bidirectional charging, your Bolt can be used (with the proper home equipment) to power your house during an outage.
  • Updated Tech-Forward Interior: Inside, you’ll find a completely redesigned cabin with larger screens, including an 11.3-inch infotainment display and an 11-inch digital driver cluster.
  • Available Super Cruise™: For the first time, the Bolt will be available with GM’s industry-leading Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology for compatible roads.

What is the Range of the New Bolt?

The 2027 Bolt is expected to have a GM-estimated range of 255 miles on a full charge. This gives you more than enough range for daily commuting around Springfield and weekend trips across New England.

Is It a Bolt EV or a Bolt EUV?

Chevrolet is simplifying the name. The new 2027 model will be based on the popular, crossover-like Bolt EUV body style (giving you that extra space and upright feel) but will officially just be called the “Bolt.”

Will the New Bolt Have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

This is an important change to note. Like other new-generation GM EVs (including the Equinox EV and Blazer EV), the 2027 Bolt will not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Instead, it will feature Google built-in. This system natively integrates Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store directly into the vehicle’s infotainment system for a seamless and connected experience.

Why is the Bolt Coming Back?

The answer is simple: by popular demand.

Customers and critics alike loved the Bolt. It was (and is) a fantastic, reliable, and affordable EV. GM recognized the massive demand for a practical, sub-$30,000 electric vehicle and is leveraging its new LFP battery technology to bring the Bolt back faster and better than anyone expected.

Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces as they showed off their costumes and filled their candy buckets is a memory we’ll cherish. It was fantastic to connect with so many of our neighbors and celebrate this fun holiday together.

We’ll See You Next Year!

We’re already counting down the days until next Halloween. The success of this event is all thanks to you for showing up and sharing your evening with us.
